10 Days And Counting

Well the nerves are setting in and its becoming more real. I've been thinking about it for a year but now that the date is set it seems like it came up so fast. The only thing that is really making me anxious is recovery because like I said, that's always the worse part for me. I'm also freaked out about the pins that they are putting in my foot. My doctor said that I might have pins sticking out of my feet and that wigs me out bad. I told my physical therapist that I'm going to look like Edward Sicissorhands but on my feet, my way of trying to calm the nerves is getting a laugh out of people. I also don't get how they are going to take the pins out after, if anyone has gone through that I'd love to know what your experience was and how they do it because it boggles my mind. One thing I'm looking forward to though is all the crafts and quality time I'll be spending with people while I'm healing. I plan to ask my friends and family if they can come over and hang out with me certain days so I can look forward to things instead of being bored in bed. My mom and I are gathering fun crafts, books, and movies to watch! If anyone has any suggestions such as Netflix series to watch, cool movies, good book, fun crafts or activities i can try. I'd really appreciate any and all ideas. As nervous as I am, I know that I am in good hands and that my doctor is very good at what she does. I also think I am much more prepared for this surgery. I had my first two surgeries back to back about 5 years ago, so going through that helps me realize what I need and what things will make the process easier for me.

The search for my pup partner is still on, that's another thing on my list that I am looking forward to hearing about!

Talk to you guys soon!

  1. Hi Jackie, If nobody you know personally has had surgery with the pins sticking out, etc., our daycare provider's husband, Rich, had a bunch of them after he fell off a roof when the kids were little. yeah, it was a little freaky looking, but he healed amazingly well. The result was amazing. If you want, I could certainly contact him to touch base with you. He's a super, super nice guy. He's a chicopee firefighter and an EMT and he loves to help people out. and BTW, I have tuesday and thursday mornings to myself for now, so if you can fit me into your schedule sometime during those times, please let me know :-) I love you!
