Well as the title says, I am back at home and have been for 4 days now! It's official been a week from the 10-hour operation and I actually don't feel anything anymore, no pain at all. The first few days were exactly what I was scared of going into it, pain. Once I got out of the surgery, that night was pretty bad. From all the swelling and throbbing my cast ending up being too tight. The solution was to "window" the cast, which means, cut the sides open and give it a little more room, and it worked for awhile. I felt relief instantly. The next night came and the same thing happened, I was in so much pain that the same on call doctor came back in in the wee hours of the morning and decided it'd just be best to take the top of the cast completely off and wrap it with an ace bandage, again instant relief. After those two rough nights, it started to get much easier. Like I said I don't have any pain right now. I go back next week so my doctor can check on the pins and I'll know more abut recovery after that. All in all the surgery was said to have gone great and although it'll be a long time before I can walk again, I am pretty excited to see the difference.
Talk soon!!

DeleteYay, jaclyn! So glad you have this post to keep us all updated. I had a similar problem after spinal surgery. The tape over the wound was too tight, and the surgery had been problematic so there was a ton of swelling. The surgeon's order said the staff couldn't touch the wound, so I was up all night in total agony. Ugh it sucks! but what sweet relief when it's released! right? Keep up the positive attitude! I'd love to stop by and visit sometime soon. Love you!
